Our Programs

Signing Up

Oh Do Kwan Martial Arts requires that all new students participate in a six (6) week introductory program prior to fully signing up.  This six week program allows for the following:

  • Allows the student to ensure our program is right for them
  • Allows us to ensure the student has the level of commitment to fully participate in the program

The school limits its enrollment to 30 students ( we are often fully enrolled so please call ahead and ask about availability) and further participation in the program ( after the introductory six weeks) is by invite only!

Age Groups

We are very clear that he teaches a combat martial art, therefore he does not accept any students under 10 years old. Most schools that offer classes to children younger than 10 try to teach their art in an age appropriate maner. We feel that this compromises the art and ends with the parent paying for martila arts instruction and their child receiving martial arts flavored fun time.

Full TaeKwon-Do Class

We teach all out students in one group class from 6:15 pm to 7:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. While it may seem that teacing 30 students at once might be a challenge, our fun teaching style ensures that student to instructor ratio is kept at 5 or less.

About Our Training & Curriculum

Oh Do Kwan Martial Arts has a core curriculum of ITF Style TaeKwon-Do.  In additon to the TaeKwon-Do, gup students (color belts) learn a mixutre of Aikido and Jujitsu in our comprehensive self-defense system, we have also recently added the study of Japanese weapons (Nunchaku, Sai, Tonfa, Bo and Kama).  At black belt, our start learning the Chinese Broadsword (Dao), Dadao and Quendo (Chinese Polearm) along with more advanced Aikido, JuiJitsu and Kung-Fu.

Classes are taught from a scientific perspective and with a great deal of the "why" being discussed to ensure that students have a sound understanding of the principles, not just the technique being taught

Expectations of Students

  • We have a dedicated website for students that ensures they have all the information they need to study for their next rank
  • Each student must print out their module book and bring it with them to class for reference and to take notes with
  • Students are required to workout at home at least two times a week, fifteen minutes each time
